Comments on: Certificate that says I have good conduct ?

Hi,
I need to get a “certificate of good conduct” for my dad, who is Malaysian and applying for I-130 also. I am wondering, when you submitted this letter to U.S. immigration, did they accept it? I am asking because your letter says it’s based on statutory confirmation, so there was no actual check in their (computer) record system done?
My family and I are not living in Malaysia and it took us 4 months for a letter of good conduct from the Malaysian consulate here. But now U.S. immigration says it is not the correct one. So I don’t know what else to get.

As far as I know, there is only one type of “Certificate of Good Conduct” issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mine did say “based on statutory declaration” and was accepted without issues.

Just wonder if you have found out if foreigner can get the letter on the same day? I called in and they advised I cant, but when I emailed, a staff named Alan said I can. I am confused! Thanks!

how did u get it on the same day? I applied for it but they would give it to me 2 months later? also when i went to apply for migration to australia, the australian high commission asked for my original clearance so i gave it to them.. i got an email saying that it is not the right one??!!

Most important thing is although the certificate is simplied but it is a valid document. For your info. the format is similar in other countries too.

does the ‘1 day’ applied to foreigner? because i went there yesterday and they said it will take 1-2 months… and does foreigner need to the oath or get the oath of commissioner to sign anything? Thanks

I am waiting for my K1 still,. Just wondering if I can still send in the application by mail coz I working at somewhere else, kind of a distance from KL. Just wondering if it still works and how long I have to wait if I send in by mail since they have changed the system nowadays.

Hi,

For the declaration form, I phoned to ask someone from the Consular and they just asked me to go to any courts (without any further guidance). But I am not sure seeing how I can’t imagine myself barging into any court just like that. So how should I go about doing it?

As for number 21 of the form, I have just moved to KL recently, so where should I go about to find these people? If teachers are good enough, can I look for someone within my university (admin staff/ lecturer?)

Yes, you can go to the court house to do the oath or a Oath Commissioner, court house is cheaper. :-)
Go to the court house, ask where you can do “sumpah”, they should be able to tell you where to go. Lecturers should be able to sign, as long as they are confirmed in service.

Yep, in some countries, it’s called Police check, background check, security clearance, police clearance, …., many names, but the same thing!

the foreign affairs website still says 2-3 months! almost freaked out ( cause i dont have nuff time, then read your post that says within few days , min 1 day. )thanks once again

I wouldn’t know. You need to ask the British High Comm. :-)
